For years, America’s renewable energy sector has been on the rise, and, under the leadership of company President Todd D. Casteel, Casteel Corporation has been growing right along with it. From wind power and hydroelectric to solar and biomass, the company plays a significant role in the design, engineering, and delivery of renewable energy projects, all while staying within budgets and delivery dates.

The company has a full health and safety program to ensure the wellbeing of everyone on all projects. Through its full pre-task safety planning and by making certain that employees have a say in ensuring safety, Casteel has earned an enviable reputation as it works tirelessly towards a zero-accident work environment on all jobs.

“Safety is by far the biggest indicator of our success and what drives our business,” states the company. “We work to protect our workforce at all costs and understand that it’s vital to our clientele.”

It has received a number of industry recognitions that stand as a testament to its professionalism and dedication to a safe work environment. Casteel Corporation is the proud recipient of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Safety Excellence Award and Zero-Injury Awards. According to NECA, the awards “are given to member companies that consistently have OSHA recordable injury and fatality rates at levels lower than the industry standard, and implement internal company safety practices above and beyond basic compliance.”

Moreover, attending the NECA convention is about more than receiving accolades. Casteel is keenly interested in continuous improvement and attends seminars and examines new products that give it ideas of how to operate more effectively and safely.

Todd Casteel himself was awarded by the Fay-Penn Economic Development Council of Uniontown with the Eberly Economic Development Award for his efforts toward improving the county’s economy. The leading national electrical contracting company is not limited by geography, however. Its willingness to go wherever electrical generation and green energy clients need it means it has worked across the country getting more power to the grid.

The company’s team of veteran project managers can handle all necessary aspects of renewable energy works, including feasibility and engineering studies, cost analysis, procurement, scheduling, design and construction for electrical substation and transmission systems, electrical project management, long-term electrical maintenance, installing turbines and more.

Casteel Corporation is never complacent and welcomes the challenges of working with the newest technology. Each complex or innovative renewable energy, industrial, or grid project gives it a chance to prove itself to its clients over and over again.

The company has been involved with many wind farms as well as part of the $1 billion Mount Signal solar project in Southern California. A substantial amount of construction work on the power lines for that project was done by Casteel. Google helped fund this 265.7-megawatt project that will sell its power to Diego Gas & Electric Co. to power 80,000 homes.

Recent projects include the 280 megawatt Western Plains Wind Farm near Spearville, Kansas. This project was a collaboration between Westar Energy and Infinity Wind Power and is slated to be operational in early 2017. Casteel has been awarded the contract with M.A. Mortenson Construction to construct the substation and transmission line for this 122 wind turbine project.

In another current project, AES Energy Storage (AES) has two contracts with San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) to set up two energy storage collector facilities with a total of 37.5 megawatts in San Diego County, California. The Advancion® energy storage sites “will help to improve regional reliability and integrate greater amounts of renewable energy when operational,” according to AES.

When fully active, at the end of January 2017, the arrays will be able to provide the 37.5 MW of power for up to four continuous hours to improve peak demand electrical reliability in the region while incorporating more renewable energy into the system. The Escondido array will be the United States’ biggest battery-based energy storage project. Casteel Corporation was chosen as one of the contractors for the construction of this facility.

For its electrical grid clients, the company implements a range of turnkey solutions that cover everything needed for transmission or substation projects from permits, procurement, and designs to prevent pollution of stormwater to round the clock emergency services. The company’s pre-engineered services are both cost-effective and save money.

“Casteel’s professionals are providers who can manage the totality of any substation/transmission/grid technology construction project to ensure your return on investment and meet ever-shrinking timeline demands,” says Casteel.

The company is active in any sector that needs power and particularly those with complex technological requirements for their electrical infrastructure such as industrial facilities, petrochemical sites, data centers, and hospitals.

In the industrial and utility sector, the company’s many years of experience in electrical and construction management has seen it provide services ranging from electrical project management to electrical testing and analysis as well as engineering management, power distribution system installation, fiber-optic and LAN cable installation and maintenance services.

“We have extensive experience helping clients construct, maintain, and upgrade facilities; implement and upgrade complex control and emission systems; and maximize production performance,” states the company.

“You can call upon Casteel’s expertise in producing superior operating systems with the assurance of knowing that all work is constructed to minimize costly downtime.” Water and wastewater treatment facilities, specialized manufacturing, steel production, and other industries have all used Casteel’s services.

Casteel works with clients in America’s shale gas and petrochemical industries on complicated electrical controls and instrumentation on which they depend to move products safely from the oilfield.

The institutional and commercial construction market is complex and with demanding timelines and specific needs. Casteel has worked on projects from massive wind farms and steel mills to railroad automation, hospitals, highway lighting, grounding facilities, high-tech data centers and network facilities. The company provides a range of design-build construction services, fiber optic LAN and WAN cable installations, lighting protection systems, site development services, along with distribution centre construction, redundant power system design and installation and more.

Hospitals, universities, retailers and others need dependable, fully integrated and safe electrical infrastructure, and Casteel Corporation delivers every time. As a highly skilled electrical specialty contractor, the company can handle all necessary works and provide dependable electrical and instrumentation services.

The world of energy technology may be progressing, but the quality of Casteel Corporation’s complex specialty electrical contracting and its emphasis on safety will not change. Casteel Corporation is experienced and fully committed to the success of its clients, and from its headquarters in Uniontown, the company looks forward to ongoing innovation for years to come.
